Hinterhermsdorf
For more than 100 years now, summer holidayers have kept coming to our village, which does not only distinguish itself by its very neatly restored traditional “Umgebinde” houses. Hinterhermsdorf with its typical village flair, decorated as “Saxony’s Most Beautiful Village“ and, in 2001, when it was conferred upon a gold medal as “Germany’s Most Beautiful Village”, invites you to stay and rest.
One of the most beautiful and most frequented sights of Saxon Switzerland is the Upper Floodgate in the “Kirnitzschtalklamm” gorge in Hinterhermsdorf.
From the Upper Floodgate you can enjoy a twenty-minute boat ride and will be given quite some information worth knowing or you continue on your way along the hikers’ path above the “Kirnitzsch”.
Taking a stroll through the village will not only acquaint you with the village and the people living here, but also the history of the place.
A walk to the “Weifbergturm“ tower, which will offer a phantastic long-distance view in clear weather, is certainly an experience.
Several restaurants with food ranging from home-style cooking to Saxon specialties, a bakery and a village shop selling goods for everyday needs will take care of your physical well-being.
