From the camping site, you may set out on various activities, e. g. short walks, half-day or full-day hikes, guided climbing or mountain-bike tours, but also hiking tours guided by a national park ranger.
Hinterhermsdorf offers hikers three cross-border points to walk into neighbouring Czechia where you can also try Bohemian cuisine.
From the viewing tower on the “Weifberg” mountain you can have a panoramic view and make a choice for your destinations on the next days. A visit to the Upper Floodgate in combination with a boatride through the magnificent and unique gorge of the “Kirnitzschtalklamm” is a must. Also our forest-historical centre “Waldhusche”, which gives an adventurous insight into century-old silvicultural history, is worth seeing.
If you want to take a rest from hiking, you will certainly welcome a visit to the Königstein Fortress (an approx. 30-min. drive), to Stolpen Castle (an approx. 45-min. drive) or to the Bastei rock, perhaps combining it with a visit to Naturfelsenbühne Rathen, a theatrical stage nicely set in natural rock surroundings. Also a trip to the primeval park of Sebnitz or, in adverse weather, to the adventure swimming pools ”Monte mare” in Neustadt (approx. 20 km) or “Toskana Therme“ in Bad Schandau (approx. 20 km) are highly recommendable.
Those who prefer it the sportive way may play tennis in the village or start out directly from the site to go on a biking tour across the National Park. A natural lake in the village invites to go for a swim. The stable “Pferdehof Eschenbach” offers rides in horse-drawn coaches or charabancs.
